Night fighter "Uhu" in Lake Schwarzer See
|
At the end of World war II crashed a Heinkel He-219 “Uhu” in Lake Schwarzer See (Brandenburg, Germany). As a result of the impact the airplane was literally taken completely to pieces. I suspect that the He-219 took off in Rechlin to a test flight with a new flight control system. Both pilots, Karl-Heinz Fuß and Helmut Friedmann respectively, died in the crash. The aircraft was discovered by divers from Leipzig in 1996. The type He-219 was verified based on vertical stabilizer.

The Heinkel He-219 „Uhu“ was a two-seat military propeller aircraft used as a night fighter by the german Luftwaffe in World war II. This type was the first plane with ejectable seats as standard.
